Risk prevention campaign on cannabis consumption for user associations carried out by RDRCannabis with the Health Department of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
Cannabis users' associations do a great job in preventing risks in marijuana use, forecasting members' consumption as well as providing information on the healthiest products and ways of consumption.
The work of these associations, as we all know, is based on a report carried out by the Andalusian government in the 1990s, the "Múñoz and Soto Report", which studied the possibility of setting up establishments for the distribution of cannabis. Since then, the associations have ensured the distribution of the product in a closed and private circuit in the association's own environment, with access control measures, consumption rooms for members and limits on dispensation. They support their work by working with other organisations, providing information and advice to cannabis-using members.
One of the latest campaigns aimed at cannabis users, especially those who are members of an association, promotes reflection on their own consumption so that it is respectful and as harmless as possible.
RdRcannabis is a project that seeks to complement the risk reduction work of cannabis associations. In this space they want to inform and share issues related to responsible consumption in the field of cannabis and health.
The project was born in 2020 from a training session of the Sub-directorate of Drug Addictions of the Public Health Agency of Catalonia (ASPC for the acronym in Spanish) on "cannabis and health" aimed at representatives of cannabis associations. ASPC promoted a working group with the aim of offering advice and proposals for the creation of new contents, designs and participation strategies.
