The well-known British television cook was detained at the airport when cannabis was found in his luggage.
Gennaro D'Acampo is a UK-based Italian celebrity chef and television media personality best known for his television shows and cookbooks focused on food recipes. He rose to fame with the program "This Morning" on the British television channel ITV and since then he has made others such as Let's Do Lunch, There's No Taste Like Home, y Gino's Italian Escape.
In addition to being a cook, he is an entrepreneur who in 2013 launched a chain of restaurants bearing his name, the first of which opened on Fleet Street in July of that year and was followed by openings at Leadenhall Market, Bishopsgate, Euston railway station, The Manchester Corn Exchange, Harrogate, Camden Town (Gino D'Acampo My Restaurant).
D'Acampo continues to publish cookbooks and is already a regular on British television presenting different programs every year, having also participated in Channel 5's "Gino's Win Your Wish List".
In March of this year he had traveled to Spain with Gordon Ramsay and Fred Sireix to film some episodes of the program "Gordon, Gino And Fred's Road Trip" which took him to different locations in the Iberian Peninsula.
It was on his return from Spain with a private flight when he was arrested at the UK airport for possession of cannabis in his luggage. Upon arrival at the airport, police dogs alerted to the possible presence of cannabis in Gino D'Acampo's luggage. When he was inspected by the authorities, cannabis was found in a bag. According to what can be seen in the photos that have been published in the media, the bag appears to be of the "Dank Of England" brand and the variety of cannabis surely "Britscotti". This British group is recognized for being musical artists and true cannabis fans who have always publicly shown their support for the decriminalization of users.
The cannabis container bag has a very particular design that shows the face of Queen Elisabeth II. These bags are available to the members of the private association that the collective has in the town of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, in the province of Barcelona (Catalonia, Spain). DOE BCN (as the club is known by the acronym of Dank Of England) has been operating since 2020 as a club for cannabis users dedicated to the brand and to the memory of one of its members, Black The Ripper. In order to access the headquarters and enjoy the benefits it is necessary to register as a member, accepting members for adult or therapeutic use.
Possibly Gino D'Acampa came to L'Hospitalet and had the opportunity to be a member of the association where he had to get the bag of cannabis, or he was able to get it through an acquaintance of his who was already a member. The famous chef told police authorities at the airport at the time of his arrest that the cannabis they had found was for medicinal use. After being held at the airport for a short time, the authorities released him after making sure that the cannabis was for medicinal use.
